Bio of Jeff Vasiloff

Jeff Vasiloff was born in northern Ohio and has written songs, instrumental music, and poetry since he was a medical student at Ohio State. His music and other writing have been “on the side” because he is a physician who has worked in patient care, public health, research, and most recently full time teaching of physician assistant students.

Jeff has two children. His adult son has special needs yet is gifted in music and plays drums and sings. His adult daughter is a lovely singer.

Jeff has recorded 6 albums of original music over the years, the most recent album available to listen to for free on this site (see Audios).

About 5 years ago, he and his son Jake founded Common Thread Generations Band, a band whose mission is to raise money for charities. Videos from recent concerts can also be watched on this site (see Videos).

If you would like to either Common Thread Generations Band or the Rain and Blue Rust trio or quartet to play at one of your events or fundraisers, please reach out to Jeff at 614-270-3551.

History of the Band

Jeff’s first band was formed 15 years ago. Called Red Blue Interlaced, they recorded two albums of original songs. Seven years ago, he recorded two albums of instrumental music.

As mentioned above, he and Jake formed Common Thread Generations Band about 5 years ago. The purpose of this band was to bring together musicians of three generations to create fun and lively concerts for charities, concerts that are out-of-the-ordinary with respect to music variety, instrumentation, originality, and creativity.

The band’s major concerts take place at the McConnell Center for the Arts in Worthington. Jeff sings and plays guitar and mandolin, while Jake plays drums and percussion. Over the years, Jeff and Jake have recruited many professional musicians, including three who are either current or former music professors at Capital Conservatory.

There are other singers, and on occasion, Jake sings. Other musicians play piano, bass, electric guitar, violin, trumpet, flute, clarinet, and saxophone.

Concerts at the McConnell Center are 7-9 pm with two sets separated by a brief intermission. The first set consists of songs Jeff has written. These are acoustic-based songs. After intermission, the band plays popular rock and pop covers.

In addition to live music, there are comedy skits, dancing, and live painting by an artist during a few of the songs. All of this gives the concerts the feel of a variety show. Cover songs are varied and include those by artists such as Frank Sinatra, Harry Belafonte, Beatles, Taylor Swift, Chappell Roan, Camila Cabello, Cranberries, and Earth, Wind, and Fire.

Jeff’s smaller band, Rain & Blue Rust, includes another singer and a piano player, both from the Common Thread Generations Band. Sometimes the band’s violin player or woodwind player also join in.

On this site, you can find free audio tracks of Jeff’s most recent album as well as many music videos from recent concerts.

If you would like to book either Common Thread Generations Band or the Rain & Blue Rust trio/quartet to play at one of your events or fundraisers, please reach out to Jeff at 614-270-3551.
